Contributed Rakeback is one of those online poker Rakeback deals that requires the right type of player to make the most of its benefits. To better understand whether Contributed Rakeback is right for you, it is important to understand the fundamentals of Contributed Rakeback Calculation.
Contributed rakeback is applied by taking the exact percentage of the pot that a player contributed, and finding that same percentage of the rake taken. This becomes the player's contributed rake. The Contributed Rakeback percentage is then paid from the player's contributed rake amount.
Obviously, you'll need to contribute something to the pot in order to be eligible to earn Contributed Rakeback (unlike the dealt rakeback method). The hand will also have to go on to see the flop, whether you are still a part of it or not, in order to be raked. If the pot is not raked, no Rakeback will be paid.
In order to calculate Contributed Rakeback, you'll need 3 things:
1. The Total Pot Size
2. Your Total Contribution to the Pot
3. The Percentage you are Paid in Contributed Rakeback
Contributed Rakeback Calculation - Step 1
The first step is to divide the amount you contributed to the pot by the total pot size. For example, if you placed $20 in a $60 pot,
that's 1/3 of the entire pot (or 33.33%). To find the %, use the following formula:
100 / Pot Size = Per-$1 %
Per-$1 % x Your Contribution = Your contributed percentage
Let's try working our $20 of $60 example.
100 / $60 = 1.6666%
1.6666% x $20 = 33.33%
Contributed Rakeback Calculation - Step 2
Next, you'll need to find the rake, from the pot size, to find what your contributed rake is. The industry standard rake is 5%
capped at $3, so we'll need to find 5% of a $60 pot.
Pot / 5% = Rake
$60 / 5% = $3
We know that you contributed 33.33%, or 1/3, of the pot, so your contributed rake is 33.33% (or 1/3) or the total $3 rake.
Rake / Contributed Pot % = Contributed Rake
$3 / 33.33% = $1
Now we know your contributed rake was $1, so we're ready to find the amount you would receive in Contributed Rakeback for this hand.
Contributed Rakeback Calculation - Step 3
Dividing your contributed rake by the percentage of Contributed Rakeback you are meant to receive will result in your
Contributed Rakeback earnings for the hand. Contributed Rakeback deals can pay anywhere from 25-35%, so we'll use the average 30% Rakeback offer.
Contributed Rake / Rakeback % = Rakeback Profits
$1 / 30% = $0.30
Your Contributed Rakeback for this hand would be $0.30.
This simple three-step process is all it takes. Though you may need a calculator handy at first, it becomes much easier to do estimated math in your head as you get more accustom to it. Hopefully you now have a clear understanding of contributed rakeback calculation and will be able to find a suitable rakeback deal using this method to grow your bankroll each month.
